Hi all,

Twice over the last week or so, I've gotten a hard lock doing just normal stuff - browsing the web, email, whatever.

(1) When the machine locks, a red light comes on inside the computer. It's a big, bright LED just under the grille. The only other times I've seen this is a brief flash when the computer wakes up from sleep or when it's being shutdown and restarted. Any ideas what this means? Some kind of early warning?

(2) How can I find out what crashed? I recall there being some sort of log file somewhere? Onyx seems to have the ability to read these files, but I don't know where I should point it.

FYI I never reboot my machine. Leave it in sleep all the time.

TIA,

Rob

A bit more info... Because it just happened again

You know the gray screen that briefly stays up when you're booting? After the first hang, it just sits there and spins. Computer isn't locked, but all the fans whir up and it never comes back.

After a cold boot then I can get back to the desktop.

Took off the USB/BT Logitech mouse and plugged in the Mighty Mouse. Now I'm back to Apple default.

Sorry you're having problems, Rob. It's interesting that Apple placed those leds there. I wonder what went into that decision.
