The Dell LCDs have a number of onscreen controls.

Someone who knows more about OSX will have to answer w/r/t changing those settings in Apple software.

I have a Dell 3007 connected to a PowerMac Dual 2.0 Rev.A. The Dell has brightness up/down buttons on the front. There is no brightness support within OS X so use the (infuriating) buttons on the front of the monitor. The good news is that unlike previous Dell monitors where the brightness controls barely changed the brightness when connected via DVI, the brightness controls on the 3007 provide a good range of brightness from dim to very bright.

You can calibrate color using the OS X color calibration tools and save a profile for your monitor. I recommend changing the gamma to PC gamma, the mac gamma is too white for this monitor.

Thanks the info was a big help I will now order my dell 3007.

At a later date if i wanted to run 2 3007 could i just put in another 6600 256 card and run one 3007 per card and color balance each card using a seperate profile ?.

cheers

You are probably going to have to get the Quadro FX 4500 to run both displays. I am not sure if another 6600 would be a good option, the Quadro would give you a performance boost.

Another 6600 or 7800 (both of which have dual link DVI ports) will be fine for running another 30" display. The Quadro is only necessary if you need the graphics performance/features, or need to run two displays off one card (it also takes up two slots, so you don't gain anything space-wise).
