Hi,
my "new" used Quicksilver 733 (to be upgraded with a Sonnet 1.0 ghz processor card) came with a no-name PCI USB card "UPCI20A-6P", the backside label says USB20-PCI/6P. In order to boot with the Apple Hardware Test CD, I've removed the card (and all other peripherals, as the ReadMe file suggest). Test turned out ok.

However, after inserting the USB card again, the G4 would not boot at all - monitor remains black. I suspect either a defective card and/or one ore more defective PCI slot(s, where a new Sonnet or Acard IDE controller is supposed to go eventually).

Aside from removing the battery and hitting the cuda switch -- any ideas or suggestions on how one would test both the card and the PCI slot / bus / port, w/out running the risk of doing more damage in the process?

What chipset does the USB card use (normally Via, NEC, something like that)? Do you have a PC you can try the card in?
