I have a 7300/240MB/8GB UWSCSI with a Sonnet G3/400M1 upgrade card. I just upgraded to 9.0.4 and i'm trying to install sonnet's software, but as soon as I hit "okay" to the "Do you want to quit all other applications?" the cursor locks up and I can't do anything. Any ideas?

Try resetting the Extensions Manager to Mac OS 9 Base. Save your previous settings first for later.
I had a similar situation, although with OS 9.2 and an Encore card on a G4 so I don't know if this applies. Worked for me.

I upgraded it to 9.1 and now it worked, but I still can't get OS X on it.

Eh, I wouldn't bother with the Sonnet software anyways. It's pretty simplistic. Might wanna try CPU Director from PowerLogix. Nice little app.

I have never used the Sonnet software for Panther, as it is not fully compatible.
The Powerlogix software is indeed a much better choice.
Did you remove the level 2 cache when you installed the upgrade?

But if you install Panther, try upgrading to 10.3.9 first, because the latest versions are not compatible with 1O.3
