I'm thinking of buying a Western Digital Raptor 150 Go as the boot drive for my PowerMac G5 2,3 Ghz double processor.

I've heard that this drive has compatibility problems with G5 machines of the previous generation. Can anyone confirm?

Thanks.

Hello..

I would strongly suggest reading the following posts in the G5 Apple Discussion Forums. There seems to be some serious problems, I'd wait a bit for the 150.

Right, I have installed a Raptor 74 Go 10000rpm as the boot drive (for the system and the apps) and a Maxtor 7V300F0 300Go 7200 rpm as a second drive for user partitions.

I am actually surprised at how much more responsive my Mac feels. Disk upgrades are great!
