I've reinstalled OS X, tried picking all my hardware upgrades out of the box and back in and restarting each time to try and pin down what the problem is.

But it doesn't help. Here is the thing, as long as the side panel is open and laying flat on the floor the computers works fine. I can even hold it up and it still works fine, but as soon as I close it, it takes about 11-45 second until it freezes completely and I have to reboot.

I have no idea what's going on and any advice on what part of the computer is causing this or ways to find out is greatly appreciated!

Sounds like you may be pinching a cable or there may be one with a faulty connection. Is it possible to try different cables? Check that all the cables are routed correctly. Also check that there is sufficient airflow in the case.

I've had the same thing happen with my 867 Quicksilver. It hasn't done it for a while--did it a bit and then just stopped again. I could only guess that it was two things touching or something like RAM slightly loose. Is there any play in the door, e.g. has the latch been damaged in any way?
