Howdy. I'm considering a Mac Mini for home use. Never owned a Mac before. Primarily web surfing and playing DVDs, CDs etc. And some just Mac curiosity Anyway, I've been reading posts for a few weeks now. Audio specs say:

Combined optical digital audio input/audio line in (minijack)
Combined optical digital audio output/headphone out (minijack)

Will this play 5.1 surround? What are some of my options for best sound? I do not have a stereo system to tie it into ... even if I could ...

Any info/links are appreciated .

Yes, it will support a 5.1 system via digital/optical. You just need a 5.1 system with optical input.

Thanks to all for the info. I didn't think to look in the accessories section. Looks like I'm about to buy my first Mac. Thanks again.
