I just got a new intel iMac 20" 2.0 GHz - it's awesome, to say the least. However, it seems my usb bus periodically cuts out for a split second. I don't know whether it's the usb bus on the machine, or my keyboard. Here are the symptoms which make me believe that the problem is at least on the apple keyboard usb bus:
1. When running Logic Pro 7 (which has a usb dongle plugged into the keyboard usb bus), every 20 minutes or so, logic will claim that the usb dongle has been removed, forcing a quit. The mouse behavior is not effected, so it seems that the bus fails for a short period of time.
2. When running Windows XP, I hear a hardware disconnect, followed (shortly after) by a hardware connect noise. Between those times, the mouse and keyboard are inactive.
Just wondering if anyone has experienced similar problems. I obviously need to test wheather it's my keyboard or computer's usb bus, so maybe I'll update in a day or 2 to see...

How are you running XP? Parallels? Boot Camp? I would call Apple, you still should have 90 days of phone support left, or take it to an Apple Store.

The keyboard has a very low amount of power it can provide, and the hub should only really be used for mice etc. If you overload the hub, asking it for too much power, you will have the problems described above. Try using one of the 3 USB ports on the back of the machine for a while and see if you have the same problem. I doubt you will.

Hey, i have been experienceing the exact same problem when running logic 7 i have my dongle in the keyboard usb, forcing me to put it in the back of the imac which is a bummer because i have to then remove my ipod since the other is being used by a usb/midi controller. Harrisjamieh is right. I have had the dongle in the back usb port for about 2 months. Then i got the controller so i tried the dongle in the keyboard and it did just what you described, two times in a hour or so.
