Hi

Im new to the forums and am seeking advice on what to buy mac wise.

Im currently looking for something to run the latest operating system and latest browsers at a comfortable speed, not bothered about mp3's or videos on it as I have a pretty top line pc for all that.
Im basically looking to use the mac for web testing.

I have noticed a g4 cube for sale on ebay that I may be interested in with the following spec

p 450 MHZ
cache size 1 mg
model g4 cube (ver 2.9)
128M Ram
The original 20 Gig Hard drive
The Video card is ATi Pro 128 with 16mb of video memory.
Slot Loading DVD Rom which plays DVD's and CD's

Any advice on possible system choices would be much appreciated

Regards

Chris

For web testing on the latest OS, I'd suggest a G4 and 512MB RAM.

Retrobox has good deals on used Macs, like a PowerMac G4 733Mhz/512MB RAM/40GB HDD/CD-RW/Zip100 for $250.

Avoid the G4 Cube. It doesn't have USB 2. Go for a Mac Mini, at least a G4 Mini but I would recommend the lowest end Intel Mini as well. I have the Core Duo Mini and its a speed demon, the Core Solo Mini should be more than fast enough for your needs. If you've already got a monitor, speakers and keyboard then you won't need to add anything to it.
Main Computer and EyeTV 200 DVR: Mac Mini Core Duo 1.66Ghz 2GB Ram 160GB HD.
Road Warrior: MacBook White 2.0Ghz Core 2 Duo 2GB Ram 80GB HD.
Kubuntu Book: Dell Lattitude C400 running Kubuntu Linux 6.06 1.33 Pentium 3 CPU 1GB RAM 40GB HD with Creative laptop speakers (it only has one speaker).
