i was turning on my iMac G3 to get my stuff off it so i can sell it. well i turn it on and the chime chimes and the orange light comes on, then green, then the folder blinking thing comes on. then it goes blank. could soemthing be wrong? the monitor couldnt possibly be dead because the ? and folder icon came up....any ideas would eb helpful

This is not a monitor problem. The installation of Mac OS is corrupted, boot it up from an OS install disc will holding down C and reinstall the OS.

is there any way i can get my stuff off it. i guess if the OS is corrupted than the answer will be no.

I believe you can have it do an install and make it leave all of your stuff on it, but I am not 100% positive.

well i got it to boot fine, its just that now if i move my computer, plug it in and turn it on, it comes up to the folder w/the ? mark and than it finds the OS and the screen goes blank......any ideas?
