I have a G4/800 that I am turning into a pseuo-fileserver. I'd like to add more drives within the enclosure and it appears adding a PCI EIDE controller is the way to go.

Of course the question in, which are compatible with the Mac (running 10.4.6).

I'm looking at Tiger Direct, as I live near an outlet and plan to swing by tomorrow for other pieces of my project.

some of these are pretty darned inexpensive...

EDIT: I am looking for plain old PATA at this point, not SATA.

Thanks for any advice.

If it isn't specifically developed for the Mac, it isn't going to work. So TigerDirect isn't gonna have it.

Here's a list;

I've had a SIIG ATA RAID card in my QS 2x800 for three years. Highly recommended and usually cheaper than Sonnet (and it uses the same electronics):

Newegg has the Acard ATA/133 controller for $50-55

I'm thinking of getting one as well for my dual 500
