Hello, i just got two sticks of 1GB ram for my Powermac G5 duel 2.0. The sellers told me the ram was for the mac, but when i tried to install it the notch on the bottum of the ram wasnt in the right place, and it stopped the ram from going. Is this normal for ram? do i have ot force it in? or is it bad RAM?

The module is keyed to the slot so that it only goes in one way - it may be that you were trying to put it in the wrong way. What type of Dual G5 do you have? The Dual Processor G5 takes PC3200/DDR400 RAM, while the newer Dual Core G5 takes PC4200 DDR533 RAM. All G5 towers require matched pairs of DIMMs (the same type of DIMM installed in the higher slot and the lower slot).

If it's dual core you have the wrong ram. You bought PC3200, you need PC4200.
Different form factor, speed and specifications.

Choose a reputable seller who will guarantee compatibility for your specific model Mac, offers a lifetime warranty, and a no-cost return if it doesn't work.
As posted earlier, you are looking for DDR2-533 MHz DIMMs, and you will need pairs, of course.
If you are in the USA, I like Data Memory Systems
Thanks

I have bought RAM from Data Memory Systems in the past, and while they're a reputable company with good service, they sell only generic RAM. Once upon a time generic RAM was so much cheaper than name brand RAM that it made sense to go with generic, but that no longer applies in contemporary times, which is why I now go with only name brand RAM.
