I'm getting tired of this issue. Sometimes when I wake my iMac (20" Intel, purchased new in April) from sleep, the fans kick into overdrive and stay that way. The only recourse is a reboot. All my external ports are filled: iPod, printer, external FW drive, external USB hub with scanner, digicam memory card reader, etc.
This does not happen consistently, but when it does, it's typically after a full night in sleep mode.
I know there were early reports of this issue from other users, but is anyone still experiencing this? My software is completely updated. I'm getting tired of having to reboot to fix this. I'd like to know if this is just a common bug that (hopefully) can be resolved with a software update at some point, or if I'm dealing with a defective hardware issue.
Note: a simple reboot typically solves this problem for me. I don't have to pull the power cord as some have suggested, though I have done that at times just to be sure.
Oh, one more thing. When you wake your Intel iMac from sleep, do you get a brief burst of fan activity, even if the fans don't stay in overdrive, like a quick blip of the throttle? That's irritating too...
