Hello, I am new to this forum. I purchased a 17” iMac CD three months ago to replace my 15” pb and one thing I noticed is that my electric bill has increased by $10/mo since then. I am pretty sure I don’t have anything new plugged into the power socket, I use my iMac almost every night but let it sleep during the day. Before the iMac came to my ownership, I have been spending the same amount of time on my pb so I know the difference must be significant. Does anyone experience something like this?

Do you still have the PB? If so, you can do a comparison using a plug-in watt meter. You can get one for around $20.

the power consumption of the imac is somewhere between 50-100 watts, MAX. that's just like a light bulb. there should be no way the intel imac is the source of the power drain.
