So unlike many people who own a Mac Mini, I have mine placed on top of a desk.
Here is my dilemma - on top of the desk and connected to my Mini I have the following:

A single external FireWire drive (1 meter cable)
A USB MIDI Keyboard (also on the desk) (1 meter cable)
A single Ethernet router (2 meter cable)
A DVI monitor (1 meter cable)
Also, often a FireWire digital video camera, or a USB digital still camera - again always on the desk. (1 meter cable)

For those Metrically uninclined:
* 1 Meter = 3 ft approx.
* 2 Meter = 6 ft approx.

Now, I already have solved the problem of ethernet cabling to the router - I can make short 1 ft cables myself. However, everything else is bunched up using twist ties, since the distance to each component is less than 1 meter.

The shortest cable lengths I have found are 1 meter for USB and Firewire, and 2 meter for the DVI cable.

I want to maintain the minimalist look of the mini on my desk. To achieve that, I need shorter cables for everything, but I have had no luck in finding them, nor have I attempted to make them (other than ethernet) myself.

I call upon the other Mini owners who find themselves sharing my plight, and I am asking for a resource that either sells short cables, or provides the components to make them myself.

Thanks!

OK. I've found a FireWire cable - pricey though:

No luck on DVI, yet.
Looks like I can make USB cables pretty cheap though.

PCcables.com carries 1 foot FireWire cables for under $4 (not that the $10 above is a bad price).

Cablestogo.com that someone mentioned above carries 0.5m DVI-D cables, albeit at 4x what it should cost.

Newegg and many other places carry retractable USB cables like this one. That might work for that. Newegg also carries 1 meter DVI-D cables at low cost.
