Hi guys,
I bought an iBook G4 from the Apple Store last October, i had problems after i ordered it with shipping, such as, took a little bit longer to ship, got lost at about every depot possible, went from China to Holland to UK. It generally took longer than it should of done to arrive and the website tracking service wasn't the greatest shall we say.
I have just ordered an Intel iMac on the 16th May. It said it would take three days to ship, then three days till it arrived, on the Apple Store tracking page it specifically said, estimated ship date 19th May, estimated delivery date 23rd May.
I was quite excited about my new purchase and couldnt wait for it to arrive. Three days (now up to Friday 19th May) went by, still hadn't shipped according to the website, i thought that this could of just been the website taking a while to update the tracking page again, so i rang customer services for an update.
The order hadn't even been processed yet, never mind entered the 3 days build time!
The rep i spoke to took my phone number and said he would get in touch with the back office who deal with the web orders and try to get it pushed along. He said he would contact me on Monday 22nd May. So i waited for the call, never came. So i rang back customer services and a different operator said it still hadnt been processed 6 days after i ordered the machine. So he again said he would send a note to the back office etc etc.
When i got off the phone to the second rep, i was really angry and decided that them calling me back within 24 hours wasnt to my satisfaction, i wanted this issue sorting that day. So i rang back again, this time i spoke to a female rep who was very helpful. She said she would go and speak to her supervisor and go over to production to see why this was happening and then ring me back within 2 hours.
1 and a half hours later i received a phone call telling me that the reason my order hadnt been shipped was because the power adapter i ordered was unavailable. This took me by suprise as i hadnt even ordered a power adapter!
I told the woman that i had the invoice in front of me for an iMac and an Apple Care Protection Upgrade. This confused her also, as she checked she had the right order number. She did have the right number, so she put me on hold and went to see what had happened. A few minutes later, she came back and told me that the contract uplift i had purchased (Higher Education Apple Care) was in the process of being taken off the store, so the power adapter had been put in as a phony product, for price reasons.
The rep told me she would cancel the power adapter and give me her email address so that i could order the Apple Care Protection that is on the site, which cost £115 instead of the uplift which cost £50 and asked me to email her my order number for the Apple Care so she could reduce the price of it to £50 for me. Which although was a nice thought, im still not really being compensated as i should of only paid £50 in the first place.
So that was the end of the phone call, with my issue resolved, not particularly to my satisfaction, but i could live with it. So the iMac should take around a week to arrive from now, meaning i will of waited 14 days for it to arrive.
But ohhhh noo. That just couldnt happen could it. Last night (Tuesday 23rd May) i received another email.
Due to demand your product will not ship until 30th May.
I was sooooo angry it was untrue. After all the problems i had, now this. So today, (Wednesday 24th May) I am going to ring customer care and give them a piece of my mind! I think i am going to try and see if i can switch the order to a retail store and just go and pick one up from my local-ish Apple Store (100 mile round trip). I do hope they stock the spec'd iMac i want because i can't wait another 2 weeks or so.
Sorry about where this topic is posted, its just i couldnt find any other section where it was appropriate.
Thanks
Chris
