I have 19 iMac PowerPc g4's. I have a VERY simple use for them. I run the apple Pictures screen saver to run slide shows at events. Until recently they all had OS X 10.1.4. I have updated all of them to Tiger 10.4. Now the screen saver looks like crap. The images are choppy and pixelated. I hunted for some sort of video setting that I could change to fix it but it just will not look right. I re-installed 10.1.4 on one of them and it looks great again.
Is 10.4 not compatible with my older g4's? Is there a setting I don't know about?
Please help! I now have Kiosk software that requires 10.4 and so I need this upgrade to work. HELP! please

How much RAM do they have? I don't actually know the answer to your question but I am wondering if it is that Tiger needs more RAM to run smoothly compared to 10.1.4?
I don't have Tiger myself, but maybe you need to turn off some of its clever features to conserve resources - maybe someone with Tiger expertise can chime in here and suggest some things, or perhaps tell me I am completely wrong.

They either have 512mb or 256mb ram and they all have the gforce 2mx 32mb ram video card.
One thing I have tried so far is to disable the new Quartz feature. Did not help. I'm not sure what else to disable but I'm willing to try any suggestions.

I wonder if this is related to a problem I'm having with iTunes visuals. I don't know exactly when it started happening but iTunes visuals are all in low res in full screen on my iMac G5 2GHz, they used to be high res. This happens with all my visualisers and is not due to any settings (ie. pixel doubling). Running latest Tiger.

Do you have to use the Pictures screen saver? I would think there are a lot of other programs you could use for a slideshow, and maybe they wouldn't have these issues.

Ths is true... I have stuck with the pictures screen saver because of it's simplicity and reliability.
I'm open to sugestions to third party slide show/screen saver software that would accomplish the same task. That would be a quick fix if another program worked. However, this problem still bugs me. Should not the suplied software that comes with the OS work correctly? My iMacs meets all tech spec's according to the pre-installation instructions for Tiger OS X 10.4.
Okay, I'm just frustrated. Anybody know of a nice looking picture screen saver?

Do you have all the latest updates on Tiger installed? Even my 500mhz G3 iBook, when booted into Tiger, does the picture slide screensaver fine and that has some pathetic 8mb ATI card in it.
Where are the pictures located? On the hard drives or on a remote network share?
