Although the iSight wont be one of the main uses of my mac, i would still like to be able to use it as a webcam- as i see very little long term use of PhotoBooth.

I've been told Bootcamp/XP doesnt recognize the isight camera.
so is the only way to use it iChat ?? that would be real bad, as it costs- and all my friends are windows users.
Microsoft Messenger for mac still doesnt have webcam support (but it will soon, i guess )
in any case, is there any way i can video-chat with XP (hotmail/msn) users from an iMac ???
is adium is able to? cause i couldnt find any webcam (or similar) option in the preferences.......

TIA

There's no workable Windows XP driver for the iSight camera, so Windows XP does not support it. If you use Boot Camp to set your computer up to dual boot with some other OS that DOES have an iSight driver, then it will be supported. Boot Camp is ONLY a method of setting up the computer to dual boot and it's aimed at using XP as the second operating system.

So far, to do video chats under XP, you need an external USB camera and software that supports video chats, such as Yahoo! Messenger.

The Applications forum has covered that topic repeatedly, including just a few days ago.
