Hi

My neighbour has a dual 1.8 G5 with PCI-X slots. Can anyone tell me will a standard PCI SCSI card fit in this machine and function? Or does he need to get a specific SCSI card for PCI-X.
We have various adaptec cards including an ava-2903b. Would something this old work?
Any info would be great. Thanx

The answer is yes and no. 3.3V PCI cards will work in PCI-X slots. However, most cheap SCSI cards (for connecting scanners and the like) use 5V and do not work in PCI-X slots. The card you mention is a 5V card.

Hence you would need to purchase a compatible SCSI card (3.3V cards are expensive) or a USB or FireWire-SCSI adapter.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
