My step dad has a brand new intel imac. 20 incher with standard everything.
It has been fine for the month he has had it until now.
when waking from sleep or from the screen going into rest or from the screen saver the screen will 70% of the time turn into a big bunch of lines. Its apparent the computer is functioning normally, you can here beeps if you press buttons etc, but the screen is just a mass of neat coloured lines running top to bottom.
Once this has occurred you cannot do anything other than try and restart and only 50% of the time will it restart normally, its just as likely to restart with the same lines.
This has suddenly occurred. And more frustratingly I have bought it back to my house in order to take it in, and the thing is functioning perfectly well.
So is this likely to be a hardware of software issue?
I tried taking the plug out the back for a while, and I did the old restart with apple/alt/r/p where by it restarted again, but still with the lines and no display.
