A friend of mine has a Powerbook titanium G4 500mhz that the fan was not turning on. So, he took it to CompUSA for a $150 flatrate diagnostic. They said he need a new mther/logic board because it is no longer controling the fan.

Their price for a new board is $783.00 [ part number 661-2689] and the labor is included in the $150. They offered to install another motherboard if he could find it cheaper.

The bummer is the computer is worth about $700-800 http://everymac.com/systems/apple/po...ok_g4_500.html

So any one know where to get a used board or a place that would take the laptop in trade?
