My friend's QuickSilver G4 has died. When he pushes the power button it glows but then goes out, nothing else happens. No disk activity or fans. It was on when he left the house, apparently they had a power cut and now the Mac is hosed. I suggested that perhaps a power spike has killed his PSU partially. Any ideas?

It's a QS that's had a Sonnet G4 upgrade fitted, so I've suggested he puts the original CPU back in, removes all RAM except one DIMM and tries it again. I guess it could be logic board but is PSU more likely? Any help much appreciated!

If it is the PSU anyone know where to get one in the UK, and are they easy to fit? He'll take it to the Genius bar if he gets time.

Thanks guys!

it could be either that has failed.

your best bet is to take the QS to an independent apple dealer, they may have some spare parts to test/get the Mac running again.

This place is a good source for parts in the UK, http://www.applemacparts.com/ - bought from them a few times myself. otherwise ebay is the next best thing.

Actually after a bit of googling, it may just need the cudo button pushing to sort it out. He's going to try it in the morning....
