I got a mac g3 off ebay. when it came, video wouldn't show up. I bought a new battery, and it came up. I restarted and it was gone AGAIN. I ressetted the pram, and it worked. Then, it gave me a kernel panic. I reset it and no video again. I couldnt get the pram to reset (held down the keys, nothing happened,) so I popped out the pram battery and put it in. It had video, and booted to the desktop. But, whenever I restart I lose video. WHAT IS WRONG??? I already bought a new $20 battery and it didnt help. I did a CUDA reset, a PRAM reset, IVE TRIED EVERYTHING. what could be wrong?

Start by taking the ram out and using 1 module at a time.

The B&W can't take a 512MB RAM module so I would start with that one. The max is 1GB using four 256MB. Also, take out the video card and re-seat it.

RAM is one of the most common causes of kernal panics.

I would let the seller know what is going on. It is doubtful that they will do anything since, in my opinion, there are many sellers on eBay that can't be trusted. If it turns out to be the RAM, most likely the seller already knew of the problem.

Yep, the ram does have a serious effect if not seated properly or if slightly faulty. After reseating the ram as above, if it still doesn't work properly and you've tried each stick of ram in turn, you could also try resetting nvram by holding down cmd opt n and v on stratup then on greyscreen/ shell, typing reset-nvram. Hit return and then type reset-all. Hit return and the mac will reboot. If that fixes it, great.

Thinking about it, the mac may not be able to boot video even in shell. You could first of all try cleaning the contacts/ reseating the video card in the Blue and White G3
