I have a huge collection of DVDs....all legal purchases.

Some of them are from different regions, and i understand that you can change regions only 5 times before the drive gets locked into one region.

Does any one have a solution for this?

I thought VLC takes care of that.

I haven't been able to get it to work for region 2 discs on my iMac.

well i guess i was wrong.....it has optical output.....which givs surround...

You could try hacking (replacing) your DVD firmware. Thats a permanent solution and makes your drive completely region-free, as long as its compatible with the drive..

Congrats in getting the iMac after all. Which one did you get - the 17 or the 20? How do you like it so far?

The firmware for the pioneer drive in the intel mac is still not available stil.....

I bought the 20" intel iMac with 1 GB RAM
