Hey all,
I am posting a question for a friend of mine. She just purchased a 450Mhz G4 for her sister. I assume it is either a Sawtooth or a Gigabit Ethernet model. I know it is the model with the Blu-grey plastic front. Aparently this particular computer did not come with an internal modem, which her sister needs. She tried removing the internal modem form her own Gigabit Ethernet 400Mhz G4 and installed it in this other computer. She told me that it did not appear in the system profiler after installing it. I have never had to install any hardware on my Macs yet, so I don't know how to do this. I assume that the computer would obviously need drivers, but with hardware from another computer we don't have any. Is it possible to install the hardware and then install 10.3, would that install drivers? Any suggestions are appreciated. I will look at the computer tomorow or Friday.

Drivers should already be there. If it doesn't show up in ASP then the modem is bad or not seated properly. Sawtooth through Quicksilver all use Spring/Spring II V.90 modem daughtercards.

Hm. We installed a new modem card that was bought from another member here in the forum. The modem will still not show up in the system profiler, or in the network pane of the System Preferences. I guess it is possible that the logic board faulty. Any ideas?

Try re-installing OS X. The drivers may not have been installed for the modems in the first place.
