I used carbon copy cloner to copy my internal HD to an external firewire HD. In system preferences, this external drive is identified as a bootable disc. When I set it to be the boot disc, my imac won't boot, eventually displaying a folder icon with a question mark.

Is there a setting or something to allow the external firewire HD to be the boot disc?

BTW, I can access all the files on the external HD, so I don't think the disk is corrupted.

It should just work. Have you used that drive to boot from before? Did you use the "make bootable" option in CCC?
