damn...Last night I spilled a glass of ice & water on my iMac keyboard... I immediately flipped it, shook the water out as best as I could, and used compressed are to try & blow/dry the rest...

today I discovered that a few keys don't work on that side of the keyboard: The right shift key, the up arrow key, and the row of 4, 5 & 6 on the right side numbers area...

Is this worth paying to fix? Is it a major deal? Should I just get a new keyboard? (Admittedly, I could live with this until I upgrade hardware in general, but if it isn't prohibitively expensive to fix...)

A suggestion might be to pop the keys off and let it air dry. See if that helps.

I know I have a few keyboards laying around my basement, so I'd probably get fed up with the not working one and plug in a Dell or something...

Water? I spilled coffee in mine, that took some doing to clean off, but it can be done. I even cleaned oatmeal from a PC keyboard once...

Anyway, disassemble the thing and survey the damage. You probably need to pop off a few keys to find the screws, Apple hides them pretty well. Then wipe everything down - especially the green cable film thingy - with a moist rag and finally dry it off with tissue or something. EVERYTHING should be completely dry when you put it back together. Takes a bit of time, but it isn't too hard.

If you need to buy a new keyboard, I recently got a Logitach S530 and I'm liking it so far. Looks great too.

You still have water inside. It really needs to dry completely.

Put it in the sun for an hour.

For the record, I have one of those half-ball iMacs with the screen on the adjutable metal neck...
