If a solo was loaded with max ram, would you think it was fine for simple daily tasks, web, word, spreadsheet etc without the need for the extra cost of the duo?

I already have a 250GB 7200rpm lacie drive as a backup or boot disk, so i dont need the extra space or superdrive.

my only concern is my 2405 dell for the solo to drive along.

Hi

If a solo was maxed with ram, that would be more than enough for use like that

I'd say go for the Solo and more RAM. When your warranty is up, you can drop in a 2+Ghz Duo for $200ish.

I think a maxed solo would be great for that, or maybe even one with just 1 gig of RAM depending on if you are using a bunch of non-universal apps or not.

1gb if youre only going to have entourage open when using it, 2gb if you like listening to itunes, surfing the web, or doing anything else while using entourage.
NOW YOU SEE ME! 2.4 MBP and 2.0 MBP (running ubuntu)

Get the duo with at least a gog of ram. It drives the 1920 x 1200 23" ACD nicely, but I don't think I'd want any less cpu.

Thanks for the advice, i guess it may have to be a duo, as i use Entourage, itunes, safari, filemaker, adium, word and excel a lot.
