Which Intel processor is closest to the 2.5GHz Quad G5?

Basically in a PC which processor would be closest in performance to the current top of the line Powermac G5?

Depends heavily on what you're running. Just for one datapoint, on CineBench the quad scores just a hair above a dual core 3.46GHz Xeon (the newer Dempsey one).

Woodcrest scores much higher than the G5.

How would the Intel Pentium 965 Extreme Edition with Dual Core Technology @ 3.73GHz compare to the 2.5GHz Quad G5?

A more accurate comparison would be taking that chip and comparing it to a single dual core chip.
And, the Intel chip would likely win.
