Hi. I have a G3/300 B&W running os 9.0. I have an XClaim VR Pro video card. I have a VHS hooked up to it, but I cannot get sound. There is no place to plug the sound into the video card. I have a converter from radio shack that converts the audio cord to a headphone jack cord. I plugged it into the sound card's microphone place and plugged the VHS sound cord into that, but it didn't work. How the heck do I get sound onto this thing so that I can record my VHS tapes and they will have sound?

Try "line in" instead of "mic"

But your card should have S-video in. Does your VCR have an S-vid port?

I don't believe it does, but I might be able to find one that does. If I use an S-video port will I have video AND sound?

Sure will. S-Video carries both.

I'd Google the card, too, and find some of the spec and FAQs. ATI still has some on their site.

Second the motion, S-video does not carry audio. Furthermore, the XclaimVR card has no audio in or out capabilities.

I had the exact same B&W system --- you use the Mac's built-in 1/8" stereo jacks on the back panel for audio in and out. Mic jack for in, speaker jack for (yup you guessed it) out.

The audio out from the VCR to the mike (really line-in) input of the G3 should work. Perhaps just the wrong audio settings are preventing audio capture.
