Hi all,

I'm considering buying a used G5 dual 2.5 that comes with one of those fancy GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL video cards... you know, the one that can drive two 30" monitors.

For my application, that's way overkill - and besides, this particular card covers up a PCI slot, which is also bad news since I probably need all three slots. So the video card would have to go.

I'm wondering what AGP alternatives anyone can recommend? I need one DVI output @ 1600x1200, though two would be nice. And I need it not to be super-loud or run super-hot. But other than that, it doesn't have to be anything special. My main usage for the mac is as a digital audio workstation, so graphics capabilities don't need to be astounding.

Any suggestions?

Radeon 9600s are a dime a dozen and should be fine with Tiger at that resolution.

Have to agree with mduell, get a Radeon 9600.

And you should get a a good price for the Geforce 6800 especially if it's the Ultra version.

Yup, I agree - after looking at the specs & price I'd say the 9600 is exactly what I'm after. Thanks for the advice!

Looks like they can be had for as little at $60 - that's definitely more like it.
