I have a mac g3 that got updated from 8.6 to 9.0 system. I had uploaded some photos from my camera and left that folder there for a few days. Afterwards i uploaded more photos from the same camera and the camera replaced the old files with the new ones..esentially erasing the old ones. I stopped it midway but the folder is empty.
Any way to recover these files? Ive tried data rescue for 9.0 and it tells me i need to pick a volume to recover to and it doesnt let me pick a folder. Ive given up on this program and would appreciate any other type of suggestions. Thanks.

It's probably trying to avoid that you overwrite any data you might want to recover. That's why it's asking you to recover to a volume and not to a folder on the same volume you're trying to recover from.

Why don't you try some kind of external storage? An external USB or FW HD or even some cheap USB flash memory (if it's large enough) would do.
