Hi. My mom just got a new top-of-the-line intel mini, and I was just wondering if there was anyway to use my 1.33 GHZ 17" Powerbook as a monitor source for the mini, so I can install stuff on it from there. She already has an LCD, but I was just wondering if it were possible for me to use my LCD monitor on my Powerbook as a monitor for the mini. Thanks!

No, you can't plug the mini into your PowerBook via DVI or VGA.

You could use VNC or ARD to control it remotely over the network.

What's the real goal here? To use your PowerBook as a monitor, or install software? If you just want to install software quickly, boot one of the machines in target disk mode and connect it via FireWire.

Thanks guys... I've been searching around the Web for a way, but you're right... there doesn't seem to be one. I was just curious if it would work or not.

One thing I'd really like to see when it comes to stuff like that is an iMac with video input... so if you ever do need to use your iMac's monitor for something other than the iMac you could... that's basically the only thing keeping me from wanting an iMac at the moment...

are you listening Apple?

NOW back to the topic of this thread and away with Dillon's randomness~~~

And video out. Then you could take 2 iMacs, plug them into each other and have some crazy monitor swapping action! Wooo!

Haha, that was uncalled for. But yeah, target disk mode my man. It works great! All you need is a firewire cable for $20ish

I've only seen them at futureshop or staples. I've never been in the market for actually buying one. Good to know they aren't that expensive!
