My AGP Graphics (450MHz, Mac OS X 10.3.9, 896MB RAM) PMG4 is having wake-from-sleep issues, so I thought I would
reset the PMU. Unfortunately, even though I followed these steps:
- unplug the power;
- open the case;
- remove the battery and wait 10 seconds;
- re-seat the battery (it's brand-new, BTW),
- press down on the PMU reset button;
- wait 10 seconds;
- re-close the case;
- plug the power back in;
- restart
...my date/time remains correct, so I know the reset didn't actually happen as expected.
What am I missing?
EDIT: I think because the computer was using a Network Time Server, it kept resetting the system time to the correct time even though the PMU had been reset. Once I disabled the "set automatically" feature, the time came in "wrong" after another PMU reset. So maybe it was working all along.
BUT: My computer still behaves weirdly. After waking from sleep, the display alights, but it takes about 20-30 seconds for the hard drive to start spinning and at the same moment, my hitherto frozen USB keyboard and mouse come to life. Can't for the life of me figure out why. Ran Mac Hardware Test with no problems. RAM checks out okay. Disk Utiltiy/fsck all say all is well. I'm running out of ideas.
Could Fast User Switching be the culprit?
