Have anyone ever heard of system Ram causing a video issue? On my G5 I just started having weird video issues where there are very short black lines all over the place. Some frame open windows, some are in a grid configuration below the cursor. When I booted from the hardware test CD the entire screen was covered in a grid pattern of vertical hyphens. I disconnected and reconnected the ADC connector for the 20" cinema display and reconnected it and the lines seem to be gone, but it came back during the test. During this past winter I noticed that there was a weird noise when I would start the computer. It was somewhat like a buzzing. It reminded of one of those little wind up toys that you wind up and they walk across a table. I ran the hardware test then and found nothing. I intended to take it to the Apple Store to be looked at, but never got around to it. With the summer I can't hear anything over fans and AC units.
But when I booted from the Hardware test it says:
Error Code
post /0/2048 DIMM0/J11 Dimm/J12
Error Code
Yet in the quick test results it says everything passed. A quick look at System profiler shows that 2 Dimms of Ram are not being recognized. It only shows 6Gb of Ram.

Is the memory error a coincidence, or the root of the problem? I have had the logic board replaced on this in the past due to one of the memory slots not recognizing memory. I will run the extended test tomorrow, but any thoughts for now would be appreciated. Due to the amount of ram I have the extended test will take around 6 hours. I will post a screen shot here shortly, once I remember how,

Dual 2.0 G5
8GB DDR ram
ATI 9800 Pro 128mb

EDIT: I just noticed that the screen saver images appear fine. Weird.

Tech Tool Delux 3.0.4 has reported Video Ram failed test. When it rains it pours with this computer.

Just FYI: System RAM can cause video issues. Especially true in older machines, like G3 PowerMacs and PowerBooks.

I only have 2Gb of ram in my computer (dual 2.3GHz). Is that why my machine can't handle most video work I do?
