Hi guys. This forum was reccommended to me by a friend. I came home the other day and my mac mini was turned off. When I restarted it, it went to a white/blue screen and froze up with no cursor or apple logo. I've been searching around the net trying to find what the problem could be, but I haven't found a solution. As far as I know, the mini is not up to date. (I haven't had it connected to the internet for almost 2 months). Here's the problem:

- can't boot into single user mode or safe mode

- can't boot from a cd or reinstall os because the system won't accept a cd.

- is there a command that will force the mini to accept a cd?

Thanks.

i really doubt it...i had my optical drive fail on my old powerbook. granted i had no freezes but i hardly know what you could check before taking it in to get serviced.

you could try removing any installed ram, and replacing it with factory ram but i doubt thats the culprit.

Well, thanks for the input. I'll see what Apple has to say.

Are you sure that there is nothing stuck in the drive? In any case, Apple should have a look to find out what happens. Without a functioning drive it is impossible to say if there is some other problem without sending it for repair, because the machine cannot boot.

Nope, nothing in the drive. I can push a cd all the way in, but the drive won't pull it in.
