Ive been waiting until after WWDC to get my iMac, now that there hasn't been any updates in the keynote, can I buy it? Or should I atleast wait until the end of this week?

Didn't you just ask this in another thread? Maybe it was someone else.

I consider iMac upgrades to be imminent. They're past the usual 6 month update point, and Intel has plenty of new hardware hardware available for them.

Yeah, but I figured the question would be passed up with all of the WWDC discussion, so I decided to dedicate a thread to it. There won't be any screen upgrades though will there?

A few of us have been kicking around the idea of a 23" or 24" HD iMac. Maybe minor brightness/contrast bumps.

I've had my heart set on getting one of the Intel iMacs for some time now, but I was waiting for them to announce an upgrade at WWDC. They were announced in January (is that right?) so I figure they are due for an update by now.

While I really want one, I'm thinking of holding out until September or so to make the purchase, as I don't want to end up buying a machine and having it get an update a week later.

Go get it if you need one now! They are wonderful machines. There won't be a "real" update to iMac til early next year anyway.
My first Mac:

I'm in the same boat as Lotus, and you may have read my earlier post, but as of about 10 minutes ago, I'm now a member of the Mac crew. 2 Ghz Intel, 2 GB RAM, 256mb VRAM, and the most important of all, a 3 year applecare plan. I can't wait to stop using other people's computers. Cheers.

What is your ship date? My credit card was screwed up so I had to fix something this morning with my order and it says my expected arrival is August 17th. Any chance it will come earlier?

With the new mac pro being 64 bit will apple move all of their hardware to 64 bits? I wanted to wait to see what came out this week but since there is nothing new on the imacs side, I guess I will hold my purchase to christmas or spring 07.

There is no sense in waiting. Get what you can afford now, or a bit more, and don't look back. The Intel iMac's are solid pieces of engineering and they FLY.

What do you truly need 64bit for anyway? Are you running Mathematica or a graphics app that really would benefit from 64bit-ness? Or is it just "that it doesn't have it and I want it"?

Don't wait. Buy now. You won't regret it.

Cheers.

Well I do a lot of work with Adobe's applications.

I am not ready yet to buy, but I was considering making the purchase around christmas time. I would love two spend my 2 week christmas vacation playing with a mac.

But If they dont offer anything new until then (new chips) I might wait a while until spring. I am planning - on skeeping my imac for 3 to 4 years so I want to get something that is as new as posible.

Good choice!

Just go ahead and order. I have the 20-inch Intel iMac and in ALL honesty I've never had a better computer. I traded in a 17-inch Powerbook for this and I loved that machine to death, but the sad truth is that the iMac blows away my old Powerbook with it's speed, screen brightness, all in one form factor, expansion options, silent running, etc. It really goes on and on. You will love it!

I promise!

The one I ordered is exactly like yours, 20 inch, 250GB HD, 256MB x1600, 1GB RAM. I also bought a wireless keyboard and creature speakers, they were all shipped seperetly, so I got the keyboard today....but still no computer. I hope the shipping is fast.

I just got a brand new iMac - its GORGEOUS! Never seen a screen so bright. It screams compared to my Powerbook 17" which I thought was pretty fast..

You'll love it! The iMac just cant go wrong!
