hi guys could you clear a doubt

is the G5 a 64 bit processor or a 32 bit ?? i am confused ...some places i read it says 64 and someplaces say 32. the one i am asking about is the one in the imac 20" 2.1 Ghz? thats the one that i own

The G5 is a 64-bit chip, but it also has 32-bit support.

awesome.. so you mean when leopard comes out my imac will give me true 64 bit performance, coz now both processor and os will be 64 b....

You say "true 64-bit performance" as if that phrase means anything.

Some of the core libraries in Tiger are already 64-bit anyway.

All 64-bit really offers is the ability to address larger amounts of memory. Beyond that, its promises are pretty empty unless you actually need it.

In fact, in a 64-bit chip is marginally slower at running 32-bit software than a 32-bit chip is.
