cheers

is there now available for PCIe a bridge to run old PCI cards? there was a thread about this for the PPC quads but lost it and couldn't turn it up on a search.

I have two PCI cards on my G4dual: an Alchemy and a DIVCO HDTV. Id love to save some $$ and still use them on the new MacPro. there are fine for me.

to get HDTV and Analog TV on the new machine would cost about $350 for a USB tuner for each.

appologize for not finding that old thread.

don't even know if the MacPro is the same PCIe as discussed in the past with the PPC machines.

cheers and thanks

I've seen a few, they're external boxes rather than internal, and hundreds if not thousands of dollars. If you're still interested I'll drudge up the links.

Yes, the PCIe slots in the Mac Pro are the same type as the PCIe slots in the final revision of PowerMacs..

md thanks

Id like any info. i did hear a long time ago about the external $$$$ solution

but ithough I saw on MacNN a bridge that was small and internal, ie it looked like an 1/8th height item you put in the slot and then the PCI card on top of that.

just guessing about the 1/8 and the ht.

saw no price....

love to find out

A small, internal bridge like that seems highly unlikely since PCI and PCIe cards are the same width; even the most minute offset and the card won't fit in the case properly.
