Hi guys,
I think it is time to get a new iMac. I really want to know when the current iMac for sale on the apple website was released. Further, is a new iMac's coming out anytime soon? I just want to avoide purchase a Mac and a new one came out few weeks after it.
Cheers
Nathan

We are in the market for an iMac so I asked about them when I was in the campus bookstore yesterday buying a hard drive. They had the 20" on sale for $1598 with free Applecare (well, you buy Applecare for $99 and get a $100 rebate). I asked how long the promotion would last and they said they had six in stock and no plans to order more. I don't have a lot of faith in the part time undergrad employees at the bookstore, but I like the idea of getting a brand new iMac revision (new case/design/color now that the Intel transition is over?) when the time comes to buy one in a couple of months so I took it as a positive sign that new iMacs are on the way sooner rather than later. Besides, I thought the whole idea of switching to Intel was quicker product revs. Okay, not the whole idea, but at least part of the idea.

Quite a few people have been asking about this. In my opinion, yes there will be a new imac at some point. If you need to replace your machine, just buy the imac out right now. It is a great machine. If you are willing( or always want) to wait for the latest and greatest, then be prepared to wait a while. I think Apple has been focused on the full transition to Intel, and may be a little later on the next generation model. Computers always become old the day after they are released!!
