As silly as it sounds … I don't know if I would be even able to deal with NAP mode but I would like to get a quieter Mac, I find this 1,25 GHz MDD too loud to be just a single CPU machine.

BTW CPU temp stays in 36º C ( 96,8º F ) most of the time which I find good enough.

My apologies for bump this thread but I was going to start a new one and found myself asking about this some months ago, so better to reply here than start a dupe one…

Well, after read here about the great things enabling NAP mode does to MDDs…

Apple - Support - Discussions - My solution to MDD Dual 1Ghz fan noise ...

So downloading and installing CHUD 3.5.2 I found no change at all… while the CPU temp is as usual low, 91º F (33º C) the computer is as loud as ever… too much for a single 1,25 GHz MDD. Kinda sucks since everyone is reporting a huge difference between before & after 'NAP magic'.

Any idea?, I don't have any process like smart reports, viruses scans… at background.

Change your fans. The fans are notoriously noisy in the MDDs, mainly the power supply ones though.

Argh… just reading the pdf about replacing the power supply fans is a pain… what a bummer, it is not like Apple had time enough to fix this on a 2003 model…

I think I remember there being a power supply exchange program a few years ago because of the fan noise, but it's over now.

If they're bothering you that much then give it a go but if you're worried about breaking your power supply, try picking up another MDD power supply. one and doing the mod on that one first.

Thanks, I was aware of that power supply exchange program, but AFAIK the latest 2003 MDD models wouldn't have to be serviced due to that, hence I find annoying a mere single CPU model like mine is that noisy.
