Hi,

I was using Sun Java Studio Creator yesterday. I noticed that on my MacBook (2GHz dual core, 2Gb RAM, 5400RPM hard drive) on battery power (and hence reduced performance) it took between 59s and 74s to restart the app server (Sun's own) and deploy the app. I tried the same procedure with the same app on my G5 (dual 2.7Ghz G5, 2.5Gb RAM, 10K hard disk) and it took around 50s. That was both shocking and surprising. I was expecting it to be *much* quicker.

Jules.

I think Java (and especially anything Sun produces) is far more optimized for Intel, but that is interesting.

2.5" 5400RPM and 3.5" 10000RPM is a huge difference in hard drive performance.

Your CPU shouldn't be running at reduced performance on battery power. It will clock down and shut down a core when it can, but when performance is needed it should light it all up.
