I recently purchased a Dual Intel 20" IMac with the upgraded 256MB video card and 1GB of RAM.
I currently use all iLife applications and also have Office for Mac and MSN Messenger installed.
I am finding when I have multiple applications open, it really lags. I can understand that when I open iPhoto (14000+) pictures, it may take some time but I was expecting less lag.

Am I expecting too much and if I maxed out the RAM (2GB), would I notice a big difference?

Thanks!

I never notice lag in mine (same system, 2 gigs of ram), but Office for Mac and MSN are not Intel applications. If you have alot of PPC programs running at one then you're bound to notice some lag. I'd blame iPhoto (14000 pictures?!?)

If you have that many images in iPhoto 2GB of RAM are nearly a must to run lag free. iPhoto is very RAM hungry if you wanna scroll through that many images

iphoto only has a slight lag for me (only 4gb of pictures in my library), but realize that rosetta uses up as much ram as it can...i really think 2gb will help you out if youre using word on a daily basis, along with other non UB apps.
