I'm having some troubles installing my new ram. I've tested the RAM and it works fine on my PC.

this is the stick i bought.

When i start up the mac, it makes one long beep and then does nothing. am I doing something wrong. the ram is securly installed.

Since Apple never shipped a 1.2, what was the original CPU speed or revision?
Digital Audio, Quicksilver, Mirrored Drive Doors, etc.

sorry i wasnt more specific. 1.25 ghz is the cpu.

Sounds like the RAM isn't good enough for Mac OS, maybe try a different brand from www.macsales.com or the like.

Yea, Macs (the hardware, not the OS as imitchellg5 stated) can be rather picky with memory.

Also, the memory you bought is high-density, which many Macs don't support. Usually you would see half capacity if the memory worked at all.

I'd buy from Crucial and get guaranteed compatibility with your Mac for decent prices.

How come in my day of OS 9, my Power Mac G3 would run a certain brand of RAM, but when I upgraded to Jaguar, the RAM was incompatible?

That's incredibly bizzare. What are the details? Have you found anyone else with the same problem?
