I just got back from the Aple Store disappointed. I went to pick up a shiny new MacPro dual 2.66GHz and they didn't have any with the airport extreme card and bluetooth card. The salesperson also told me they didn't have any airport/bluetooth cards they could install in the store. So I left, got home to order from the Apple online store and see that a MacPro with the airport and bluetooth card has a 2-3 week wait! Without the cards it would ship in 24 hours. Don't most people get the airport extreme and bluetooth card? I sold my Powermac, when I purchased it I didn't include the bluetooth card at the time and had to use a D-link bluetooth adapter. I wanted everything built in this time. It looks like I'll just have to wait.

Any idea how much it will be to install it after the fact? I ordered on Amazon, since they have a $150 rebate, and the standard config is ok for me for now.

I'll use a Bluetooth dongle, but hardwired for network connectivity.
Too many Apple/Mac products to even bother listing!

I was going to order from Amazon as I also saw the $150 rebate but they don't sell a version with the bluetooth and airport extreme either. They probably will after a while as right now they are also only selling the 2.66GHz MacPro.
I'm not sure how easy or difficult it is the self install.

The more I think about it the *ONE* configuration is more of a 'you really need to get what you really want from an AppleStore' move.

Things as basic as BT or Wireless only driect from Apple? Bothersome.

Airport/BT card must be installed by an authorized Apple service provider or it will void your warranty
Linkinus is king.

You can always add wifi and BT in a few months. Apple Stores may even install them free when you purchase them.

It wouldn't surprise me if, when BT/Airport/X1900's are shipping in bulk if Apple adds an "ultimate" configuration to sell at the stores.

For example, back when Apple was selling 1.8 and 2.0GHz MacBook Pros, the 2.16GHz processor and the 100GB 7200 rpm HD were Apple.com build-to-order options. However, my local Apple store had a stock of 2.16GHz/1GB/100GB 7200 rpm/256MB VRAM "ultimate" models, in-box and ready to sell just like any other stock machine. This is the machine I bought - didn't have to order online (and could potentially return it just like any other stock machine).

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple added a 3.0GHz/X1900/Airport/BT/500GB model to sell at the stores. Don't want the standard config, here's a more expensive model instead. Heck, I fell for it (happily, I might add).
