Where have you seen it done? I highly doubt it can be done because of a limitation of the iMacs screen.

I have never seen it done on the internal display but is possible to use 1280x960 (IIRC) on an external display using 'switchres' (try version tracker). In my exerience the internal display will shut down. I am not sure if this is because it cannot cope or is a safety mode to protect the internal display's electronics.

For future reference, typing in capitals will not make anyone respond faster, and it may scare off some potential posters.

As far as the iMac screen thing goes, I have no idea.

The internal display is definitely confined to 1024x768 I don't know about the VGA out so w/e on that front. Also why wold you want to run it at 60Hz it's gonna be flickering like all hell.

And finally, don't type in ALL CAPS it is considered yelling and rude, this is not eBay!

I was not aware of that.

If you use Switchres, it allows you to set all the resolutions the 'card' supports - not just the ones the OS offers. If you set higher than 1024x768 on that iMac, its internal display switches off, but the mirrored signal continues to come out of the VGA. I know this as I have done it.
Try it.

EDIT: thinking about your original post, this is probably of little interest since you want to try it on the internal display - have you tried switchres anyway?

Please use correct spelling, proper capitalization (not all-caps, and not all-lowercase) and use punctuation. Your posts are nearly incomprehensible.

I guess periods, commas and full words are too much to ask, eh?
Please don't use AOL-speak or TXT-MSG abbreviations. They make things very hard to read, and not all the users here are native English speakers. Abbreviations are going to make things even more difficult for them.
