i got my mini last december as a gift to myself so it still a G4. I think I want to upgrade but I wont know what to do with the old one...I woudl think selling it would be hard to do since its the old processor as opposed to intel. I paid $499 + tax and its only a combo drive...no bt or airport...and I have yet to purchase AppleCare. 512 RAM and 1.33Ghz and 40GB hd. So, yeah, it's a base model. I inquired about selling it for an upgrade thru Powermax but the quote I got back then didn't sound too appealing.

I really just want the intel processor, bt/airport (cuz right now, that owuld be useful...before, it wasn't), and more RAM. Does Apple do upgrades like this for my existing mini, or would I have to go through a third party? Keep in mind I stink at taking things apart and putting them back together so I just know that I would not want to do a self-install thing.

Use it as a home entertainment center. I hooked up my Mac Mini to a an external USB hard drive with my entire CD collection on it. I bought a cheap LCD monitor for the Mac Mini and connected the headphone connection to my home stereo.

I never have to open up my CD binders ever again. If I want a CD for the road, I can burn it with the Mac Mini's internal CD burner. I also connect my iPod to the Mac Mini when I want to change the iPod playlist.

I beleive there is also an adapter to connect your Mac Mini to a TV so you can watch movies through the Mac Mini as well.

I have backed up most of my DVDs to the external USB hard drive using the program Handbrake. Now I just open up QuickTime player and play whichever movie I want without having to open my DVD binder as well....

No sense in throwing it away. But there might be some parent with a kid in school and they might buy it from you on the cheap...

EBay prices on those things aren't too bad. Personally, I don't like the prices on CPU upgrades for PPCs. I'll bet you could get $350-$400 for your Mini. That just leaves $200-$250 to put together for a Core Solo w/BT and WiFi.
