i have a new MacPro. I couldn't be happer!!

but i plan to keep one of my now old G4duals as it has 4 HD's in it and Ill use it as target mode for a while.

the G4 has Firewire400 in the back and the MP FW 400 and 800

as transfer speeds will be limited to the slowest connection, I guessing that it will not help me to get a firewire800 card for the G4:

the HD's are ATA 100 and 133 on each of the two buses, one is faster but ive forgotten wich.

is this correct way to view the issues?

cheers and thanks

I would say that it would not be worth it to get a FW800 card for the G4 unless you are continuously streaming data.

Someone was doing something similar with an iBook, and I don't think it makes much sense unless you have a use for a second computer rather than having it spend all its life in TDM.

You can sell your G4 system for what, $1000? Four good enclosures are $200ish. $800 for a new display or RAM or whatever.

thanks for the tips

md: didn't think a G4dual was worth much I have two givinf one away to a friend and at the moment will keep theother forf a while as an alt downloadeer or browser as I have FiOS I have three screens so will keep the G4 on a nokia 19" until I can make sure the MP does all the things I want at the same time:

HDTV/Analog TV recording/iMovie from time to time ->iDVD

cheers and thanks
