I'm having problems with my iMac G5, the problems started a week ago. The iMac unexpectedly powers off.

It shuts down when im working with it, in various programs. Also when i leave it on the login screen and sometimes during boot. I have tried the Apple Hardware Test and it shuts down while testing aswell.

Now my first thought is a faulty power supply.

I have searched on the internet and this forum for similar cases but havent found much. There were some problems with iMacs but those were the first series.

I have a 20" iMac G5 2.0 GHz rev b ( with ambilight sensor). My warranty expired a month ago and all the Apple service employee told me to do was the hardware test. Which I never saw completed.

Do you have any idea on what this problem is and what the best thing is i could do?

Take it in and eat the bill for it. It sounds bad to me.
