I am another guy plagued with kernel panics all the time. I am on my 4th round of RAM from OWC and I also seem to have hardware issues with my front FW port on my Quad 2.5. I have been trying to save the reports and post them here for some of you brighter mac folks to interpret, however when I go to the panic log folder the last entry is from March. Not sure what to make of this or why they aren't recorded.

Have you run the Apple Hardware Test?

Pull up Disk Utility and check the SMART status for your boot drive. What I'm thinking is this: sounds like you have swapped the RAM a lot without fixing the problem. So maybe it isn't the RAM this time.

If it were the hard drive going down, that can cause a KP and maybe prevent the panic log from being written out. The log is supposed to be saved in PRAM and written out on the next boot though.

Why do people still seem to think OWC is a good source for RAM? Especially in the best Mac of all time, the Quad G5, it makes no sense to buy anything other than name brand RAM.

The log is indeed saved in PRAM and then written back to the HD. Kernel panic logs are supposed to end up in /Library/Logs/panic.log according to What's a "kernel panic"? (Mac OS X) . Can't verify it for myself, because this machine has never panicked.
